5 Signs Your Vehicle Needs a Wheel Alignment

5 Signs Your Vehicle Needs a Wheel AlignmentIf a vehicle's wheels are misaligned it can not only become difficult to control, but a variety of other issues may come about aswell, including a decrease in fuel efficiency. Vehicles can become misaligned for a number of reasons, such as if tires are not balanced, or because of a small run in with a curb or pothole, or after a minor or major auto accident. If you notice any of these signs that your car needs a wheel alignment don't hesitate to bring it to an auto repair shop to have it the issue properly diagnosed and repaired.

Crooked Steering Wheel

One of the most common signs of alignment problems is a steering wheel that is off center. If you have to hold it to one side or the other for your vehicle to go straight then you certainly have some sort of steering issue.

Uneven Wear on Tires

You should regularly perform visual inspections of your tires to make sure they are properly filled, not damaged, and to see how the tread wear is. If you notice that the tread on one tire is wearing differently than that on the other side, you may have an alignment issue.

Soft Pulling

If you take your hands off the wheel for a split second and notice your car starting to drift to one side of the road or the other than you have a soft pulling issue. This means that you don't notice it under normal driving circumstances but your car is constantly trying to go any direction other than straight.

Hard Pulling

If a vehicle has very bad alignment you will be able to tell that it does not want to go straight, as you'll have to fight the steering wheel. This is very unsafe because you're always having to correct the wheel to keep your car on a straight path.

Odd Vibration

When a vehicle is misaligned the tires are fighting to go in different directions, which will cause your car, truck or SUV to shake and vibrate as you drive down the road. You should seek an immediate diagnosis from your mechanic to have the problem corrected.
