5 Auto Maintenance Services Never to be Skip

5 Auto Maintenance Services Never to be Skip

If you want your car to continue to run like new for miles and miles it is integral that you provide it with the auto maintenance it requires as dictated by the service schedule inside your car's owner's manual. Any time you skip scheduled services that your car requires you're putting yourself at risk of a breakdown and a need for extensive auto repairs. While it may seem odd to spend your hard earned dollar on a car that is already running well you're going to end up spending much more on repairs once the parts or fluids that should have been replaced finally decide to fail. The following are five auto maintenance services to always have completed on time per your service schedule in the owner's manual.

Timing Belt Replacements

Vehicles that utilize a timing belt, opposed to a timing chain, need to have the belt replaced before it breaks. This is usually scheduled between 70,000 and 105,000 miles for most cars and trucks, depending on the particular vehicle. If the timing belt snaps it could cause the engine's internal parts to grind together in a devastating way, possibly resulting in a need for a whole new engine or an engine rebuild.

Transmission Services

The transmission requires routine service at certain mileage intervals just like many other vehicle systems. Transmission service consists of a transmission fluid flush, replacing the transmission filter, if applicable, and often times installing a new transmission pan gasket, in order to fix current leaks and prevent new ones.

Fluid Flush Service

Your car uses a number of fluids to operate its systems. Over time these fluids become contaminated with debris and they also break down over time. To ensure correct operation of the cooling system, power steering, differential and brakes these fluids should be drained and refilled as necessary according to your service schedule.

30/60/90K Service

Most services required by your vehicle fall into what is known as 30-60-90K maintenance. These are maintenance appointments conducted every 30,000 miles and include computer diagnostics, belt and hose replacement, safety inspections and other integral check ups.

Oil Change

Most vehicles require oil changes every 3,000 miles. Oil changes are important as they ensure that the moving parts of the engine remain properly lubricated. Oil changes also help keep performance at a peak and fuel efficiency maxed. Skipping oil changes may result in massive wear and tear of engine parts.
