Important Auto Maintenance that Gets Forgotten

Important Auto Maintenance that Gets ForgottenAll cars and trucks require routine maintenance to remain in tip top shape. For many people auto maintenance consists of oil changes and tire services, but there is so much more to do. It's important to keep up with all auto maintenance to prevent unnecessary and expensive auto repairs. The following are six often forgotten auto maintenance tasks, be sure not to put these off if you want your car to continue running great.

Fuel Filter

The fuel filter is needed to remove contaminants from the gas that you put in your car that are naturally present. Without a clean fuel filter the fuel injectors and interior components of the engine can become gunked up and damaged.

Air Filter

Similarly, the air filter is necessary to remove impurities from the air that is mixed with gasoline to create a proper air/fuel mix. If the air filter becomes clogged it can result in the car burning excess gasoline to make up for the lack of oxygen flow.

Fuel Injection Cleaning

Fuel injectors can become gummed over as the miles add up. This can result in a rough idle, hard starting or poor acceleration. A fuel injection cleaning will ensure gasoline is properly distributed to the cylinders.

Cooling System Flush

The cooling system is responsible for regulating the operating temperature of the engine. A cooling system flush is necessary to ensure it is free of harmful contaminants that can lead to overheating issues.

Transmission Service

The transmission requires routine maintenance similar to how an engine needs oil changes. A transmission flush keeps everything properly lubricated and helps to prevent leaks and performance problems.

Timing Belt Replacement

If your car has a timing belt be sure to have it replaced when called for by your vehicle's maintenance schedule. Putting off replacement could lead to the belt snapping, resulting in massive engine damage.
